Hikari Mansion
Flet's Hikari Mansion (fiber optic) is available in apartment buildings where the building owner has contracted with NTT to have Hikari equipment installed in the building.
Hikari Mansion connections are attractive because they offer the speed and stability of fiber optic connections at a very reasonable price. The cost of the fiber is shared by all the tenants and landline telephone service is unneeded keeping the price down. In fact, Hikari Mansion service is generally less expensive than ADSL connections. Also, because the service is already in the building, connections are done quickly.
OCN Service
OCN provides ISP service (email address and mailbox, etc.) to go along with Flet's Internet Access.* Their OCN Dot Phone IP phone service is also available as an option.

Speed and Pricing
Flet's Hikari Mansion pricing depends on the exact type of service installed in the building and the number of subscribers that may be connected. We will let you know which service is installed when you request an Availability Check.
In general, the service that will provide the fastest speed of connection will be Flet's Hikari (fiber optic). In most areas Flet's Hikari is nominally 100 M service. The actual speeds you will get are never promised but most users report speeds of between 15 and 25 Mbps.
If Flet's Hikari is already installed in your apartment building, it will usually be not only the fastest service but also the most economical.
Total monthly fees for NTT West Flet's Mansion-type Hikari with OCN start at ¥3,622/month in Eastern Japan and ¥4,147 in Western Japan.

NTT has a whole family of services using the Flet's brand. These include ADSL, ISDN and Hikari (fiber optic) services. The Hikari services have two main types, Family (a standalone service) and Mansion (a shared type installed in apartment buildings). The brand is used by both NTT East and NTT West (but written in katakana by NTT East).
B Flet's is the original brand name for NTT's fiber optic services and is generally regarded as being synonymous with fiber optic service. However, now NTT now has several fiber optic services. Besides B Flet's, there are Flet's Premium, Flet's Hyper, Flet's Basic, etc..
The distinctions between these products are for the most part minor. Some are NTT East brands and others NTT West. Some refer to slightly different fiber optic systems. Ultimately, however, the distinctions are irrelevant to users because users generally do not have the luxury of choosing between them. In general, they get whichever fiber optic product happens to be available at their location.
Therefore, on most parts of this web site, the distinctions between these different types of Hikari service are ignored because they add more confusion than meaning to the discussion. References to "Flet's" should be understood as referring to the family of services in general.
